The project was one of great impact to the people of Asaba of whose lives were touched with the knowledge of cancerwhich more emphasis on Breast cancer as this is the most commonin Nigeria. We also gave free medical tests and medications, food,clothing and other necessities to help ease of the pressure of the economy and also help them get closer to a better living condition.
Objective:
To provide essential services and support to the community of Asaba, focusing on cancer awareness, healthcare, and basic necessities.
Activities
1. Cancer Awareness:
▪ Organized seminars and workshops to educate the public about cancer symptoms, prevention,and early detection.
▪ Distributed informative materials and brochures.
2. Free Medical Tests:
▪ Conducted free medical screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar, and HIV.
▪ Provided on-site consultations with medical professionals.
3. Free Medications:
▪ Distributed free medications to those in need, including pain relievers, antacids, and antibiotics.
4. Free Food:
▪ Provided hot meals and snacks to the community, including vulnerable groups like children, widows, and the elderly.
5. Free Clothing:
▪ Distributed new and gently-used clothing to those in need.
6. Free Sanitary Wares:
▪ Provided free sanitary products, including toothbrushes, toothpaste, and sanitary pads.
Impact
▪ Over 500 community members benefited from the free medical tests and consultations.
▪ 300 people received free medications.
▪ 1,000 individuals enjoyed free food and drinks.
▪ 500 people received free clothing and sanitary wares.
▪ Cancer awareness reached over 2,000 people through seminars, workshops, and distribution of informative materials.
Conclusion
Fend For Asaba 2023 successfully provided essential services and support to the community, promoting health, wellness, and dignity. The project demonstrated the power of community-driven initiatives in making a positive impact on people’s lives.
